Notorious Serial Killer Patrick Mackay, who has been dubbed the “Devil’s Disciple”, has been released back onto the streets despite being deemed too dangerous to be freed permanently. Mackay, now 70 years old, was caught sauntering through a city centre bus station on day release from open prison. Sporting a goatee beard, glasses, and what appeared to be prison-issue tracksuit bottoms, Mackay chatted to strangers and stood feet away from a baby in a pram. He was refused parole just last month, yet was then allowed to roam on license from HMP Leyhill, Gloucs just a week later. Mackay admitted killing two widows in 1974 and 1975, as well as a priest. He also told police that he killed up to eight others, including a nanny and a four-year-old boy, but later retracted his confession. Mackay’s victims’ families, including Vic Davies, the son of one of Mackay’s possible victims, have raised concerns about his release, emphasizing the danger he still poses. It is a massive gamble to release this convicted killer who, as MP for Dartford Gareth Johnson warns, is still young enough to kill again. The Ministry of Justice has declined to comment on the issue.
