Development of phones

Apple, in cooperation with its partners, has begun steps to develop full-screen iPhones, with the front camera completely hidden under the screen.

The South Korean platform “The Elec” stated that the company “LG Innotek” has begun the first development processes for a hidden camera under the screen, pointing out that this constitutes a major challenge; Because the camera hidden under the screen sends less light to the camera sensor, some of the light is lost as it passes through the screen panel; This may cause the image quality and brightness to deteriorate.

It revealed that LG Innotek is working on developing a special type of multi-lens system that can reduce optical aberrations and increase the light intensity ratio around the camera sensor to improve image quality. The company registered a patent for this technology at the end of last year.

The platform added that LG Display, also for the LG Group, has begun developing screen panels that allow light transmittance to increase to 20% during the year 2023, and that percentage will rise to 40% after 2024, making it closer to the standards set by Apple.

Technical reports indicated that Apple will work to include the Face ID system under the screen in the next year 2025 in the iPhone 17 Pro phones, after which the company will switch to using the under-screen camera and launch full-screen iPhones.
