Access to the lake will be ready for the Indian summer!
Accepted in the spring by the Municipal Council, the development of three lake sites will materialize, for two of them, this autumn only.
In Morges, bathing enthusiasts can enjoy only one beach, that of Cure d’air. For the rest, rock climbing remains obligatory. This is why, at the beginning of the year, the Municipality presented a notice of 483,000 francs “for the creation of access to the lake and for the installation of floating beaches”, an amount for which the municipal councilors had thrown themselves into water without hesitation.
While three developments were announced, only two will see the light of day with certainty. At the Blancherie, where an access ramp and a wooden deck equipped with ladders were planned, the Morgians will have to be patient. “The Canton told us that this site was not in line with the cantonal master plan for the shores of Lake Geneva. There will be nothing this year, but we will try to find a solution for the next one, explains the municipal Jean-Jacques Aubert.
Partial arrangements
In the Vertou park, located to the east of the city, steps – that is to say the transformation of the rockfill into successive levels – have already been made over ten meters while the notice was counting on 25. “ We had to wait for the authorization of the Canton and the rest of the work will be finished in September”, justified Jean-Jacques Aubert. The floating beach has, for its part, been installed.
“We had to wait for authorization from the Canton, which explains why the rest of the work will be finished in September.”
For the third site – the port of Petit-Bois, located west of Morges – the Canton has also given its authorization. “The works could not be carried out because the company in charge was not available. Access to the lake can however be done by the ramp already provided for this purpose and the steps will be made in the fall, ”specifies the elected official.
As in the Vertou park, a floating beach has been launched. Failing to satisfy swimmers this summer, the facilities can be used by fans – always more numerous – of winter swimming.
