Development of a diagnostic of the education system

On the sidelines of a workshop dedicated to launching the development of a study in cooperation with the “Global Partnership for Education” program, the Education Minister, Fathi Slaouti, underlined “that it is not a question of carrying out a new diagnosis of reality, but that it is rather a question of” deepening what has been accomplished in terms of programs and diagnosis of the system education in Tunisia in recent years to identify gaps.

Fathi Slaouti specified, in this sense, that the workshop will be an opportunity to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the education system in Tunisia. He felt that carrying out the diagnostic study will make it possible to formulate an objective diagnosis. The study will facilitate the establishment of a comprehensive funding program to promote the education system. The Ministry intends to do this in cooperation with the Partnership for Education program.

The Minister of Education again stressed the need to relaunch the education reform program. The program has been suspended since 2015. He insisted on using the results of this diagnostic study to develop the necessary reforms for the Tunisian education system.

The Minister also stressed that the emergence of new phenomena and others. These phenomena have grown in recent years. He cited school violence, dropping out of school and drug use. The latter will be the subject of a more complete study in order to combat this scourge.

Regarding the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic on the education system, the Minister stressed that this health crisis made it possible to understand the importance of developing new mechanisms, in particular distance education.
