Developer studied: 195 days of the 365 of the year are destined to pay taxes

In recent days, the liberal think tank ‘libertank’ published a revealing study, in which it is stated that 195 days out of the 365 a year that Colombians work, are destined to pay taxes.

According to this Think Tank, by 2022 Colombians had to work 129 days to pay VAT, 65 days to pay social contributions, and 1 day to pay special and municipal taxes.

The data is revealing, because it means that 53.4% of the days of the year are used to pay taxes in the country. This shows that, in the words of the study, “since July 14 you stop working to pay taxes and start working for yourself.”

How is it in other countries?

To get an estimate of how much is paid to the state, the researchers used a methodology borrowed from the Adam Smith Institute and Fundación Civismo. Which in turn allows them to compare the tax burden of Colombian citizens, with respect to those of other countries.

Thus, the day that people stop paying taxes in Argentina is August 1, a little more than in Colombia. For its part, in countries such as Spain, the figure is similar to the national figure (July 13). On the other hand, it can be seen that there are others that choose not to extract as much income from their citizens, as is the case of the US, which is taxed until April 16.

GIVEN

Libertank is a modern tank of action that promotes economic freedom, to influence public opinion and contribute to making Colombia a better place.
