The night was nightmarish in Morocco after an earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale. Several hundred people died. In the province of Taroudant, the epicenter, the damage is impressive.
In Morocco, the town of Taroudant is in ruins after the earthquake which struck the country on the evening of Friday September 8. This city is located 80 kilometers east of Agadir. The mud houses, typical of the Atlas, have collapsed. Where there were streets, there are now scree, swirls of dust. Residents are digging with shovels. They are looking for bodies or survivors. A man, inconsolable, sits on the steps of his ruined home.
Soldiers arrived on site
A little further on, firefighters are working in what remains of a house. Soldiers have already arrived on site. The army, firefighters and civil protection patrol the neighborhoods, undoubtedly to respond to calls from residents who are looking for theirs.
