Devastating Wildfires in Maui County Leave 89 Dead and Thousands Displaced

HAWAII, August 13, WAM/ The death toll from devastating wildfires in Maui County, in the US state of Hawaii, has risen to 89, according to state governor Josh Green.
The devastating fires raged on Maui and the neighboring island of Hawaii last Tuesday, where they spread rapidly as winds of up to 130 kilometers per hour fanned the flames.
Officials are likely to find more victims of the fires that destroyed a thousand buildings and displaced thousands, which will likely require many years and billions of dollars to rebuild.
And the Maui authorities had announced, in a statement yesterday, Saturday, that the “Lahaina” fire, which spread from the forest to the town, has not yet ended, but it has been contained by 85%, along with two other fires on the island at rates of 80 and 50%.
