The storm last Sunday, December 17, which greatly affected Pilar, also destroyed several kennels of “Los Angelitos de 4 Patas” killing four dogs of the 39 that live in the shelter.
“After 3:30 in the morning I went out and started counting the dogs and when I looked that two trees had fallen on the kennels I found four lifeless dogs.”Alfredo narrated, through tears, about the tragic early morning that the canines suffered. He added that at the beginning of the storm fourteen dogs took refuge in his apartment, escaping the impetuous wind that fluctuated at approximately 100 kilometers per hour.
Added to the difficult economic situation of the country, the climatological phenomenon left the refuge that has been carrying out protectionist activity for more than 30 years on the brink of disappearance. That is why its owner and creator appeals to the solidarity of the residents of Pilar and its surroundings to repair the damage caused by the storm. “If you can donate poles, fences, zinc sheets or money for labor, everything will be welcome to get the shelter back on its feet,” explains its founder.
Those who can collaborate with the shelter can contact Alfredo Baralla at cell phone 1557569647.
Where is the shelter?
“Los Angelitos de 4 Patas” is located on Ruta 26 1612, Los Cachorros neighborhood, 5 blocks from Panamericana and Ruta 26.
Alfredo uses a red Ford F100 truck with which he is responsible for carrying out rescues and saved more than one from death, such as the case of animals that are sacrificed by tying them to the tracks. “You have to have enough stomach to do what I do,” he tells El Diario. There is no doubt that his dedication to the animals makes him feel like they are true members of the family.
Its founder seeks to raise awareness about how important castration is in animals and getting involved when one or more are homeless. “Giving them food, a blanket or a little house made of recycled materials, everything helps so that these noble and intelligent beings can spend their days as best as possible amid so much indifference,” he maintains.
The activity is maintained thanks to the funds from two rentals owned by them and by the solidarity of a donor who each month provides 8 bags of food for the dogs.
