(CNN) – Tamer Ramadan, head of the mission of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Libya, said on Tuesday that about 10,000 people are believed to be missing after the devastating floods in Libya that fell with the arrival of Hurricane Daniel in the country.
Ramadan explained, on Tuesday, during a press conference in Geneva, “The death toll is huge, and there are about 10,000 missing.”
Ramadan confirmed: “The death toll is huge, and may reach thousands, but we do not have a specific number at the present time, as our independent sources confirm.”
For his part, the Regional Head of Communications of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) told CNN that thousands of people are missing after the massive floods in Libya.
Mai Al-Sayegh, spokeswoman for the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in the Middle East and North Africa, explained to CNN that the Libyan Red Crescent does not have the capacity, and the resources are not sufficient.
Al-Sayegh confirmed: “The Libyan Red Crescent lost three volunteers, and communications are down.”
