Tired, Bruno Orsini, the former manager of the factory (which he passed on to his son) can only see the damage, helpless: ” It is the work of three generations that has gone up in smoke. You have to start all over again, start all over again. All the machines burned, the orders ready to go too. It’s so sad.”
This Monday morning, two days after the start of the fire, there is nothing left of half of the Orsini company in Ouarville in Eure-et-Loir, established in the town since 1957.
2000 m² were devastated by the flames despite the intervention of 81 firefighters from the surrounding municipalities equipped with nineteen machines and four lances. This Monday, most of the fire was brought under control but there is still smoke and pockets of fire that continue to burn.
The Orisini company employs thirty people and four temporary workers. It manufactures furniture for hospitals, university residences, hotels. “Our loyal employees find themselves without a job. We don’t know what we’re going to do. We’ll see when we have recovered computer equipment what can be done for them. Many have been there since the creation of the factory. “, laments Bruno Orsini. ” Our order book was full until December. My son who had just taken over the factory and who had committed capital finds himself with nothing,” he adds.

Investigators have a lead. A witness saw two people leaving the company and leaving in a vehicle when the fire started
Frédéric Chevallier, public prosecutor of Chartres
This Monday, August 21, the public prosecutor of Chartres, Frédéric Chevallier confirms to France 3 Centre-Val de Loire that “investigators have a lead and that the fire would probably be voluntary”. He specifies : “A witness saw two people leaving the company and leaving in a vehicle when the fire started”, explains Frédéric Chevallier. “The work of the investigators will be to identify these people, find out if they were there by chance, what they did, if it was a theft, if the fire was accidental, if it was deliberate or not. ”
Even if the fire is deliberate, it is not a fire of arson. “In truth, it is criminal when the fire leads to the death of someone. Fortunately, this is not the case. It is therefore a fire of criminal origin.“, specifies the public prosecutor of Chartres. “For the damage committed by fire, the legislator considers that these are the most serious criminal acts. Therefore those responsible incur ten years of imprisonment”.
The work of the investigators should make it possible to learn more about the circumstances of the fire and the role of the people seen on the scene at the time of the facts.
