In the month of next december, a new recycling center will open its doors in the agglomeration of Niort. After a year of work, this new management and waste recovery will finally be able to receive the public. In this new service, a dozen types of trash different can be treated by the teams of the recycling centre.
In total, the new structure will be able to accommodate 100 000 passages per year, for a tonnage of 9,000 tons on a surface of 7 300 m².
The establishment of the “waste card” to the inhabitants of the agglomeration has made it possible to eliminate contributions from municipalities that are not part of the community of municipalities.
This has considerably reduces website traffic and the amount of waste to be treated and to improve the service provided to the inhabitants of Niortagglo in terms of waste management.
For this new site, the expected attendance is less than 100,000 visits per year.
The landfill will be only open to individuals and not to professionals.
Promote reuse
This new equipment will also be a place that will seek to promote reuse. A room dedicated to reuse will be entirely part of the waste disposal centre.
The landfill will have a autonomous operating equipment allowing the contents of the skips to be compacted on site to save time and space while waiting for them to be evacuated from the site.
Particular attention is paid to theenvironmental aspect and the landscape insertion of the project, both by the architecture of the buildings which will benefit from green roofs or by planting bordering plants that can serve as a refuge for local fauna.
It is indeed a “new generation waste collection center, respecting all the new standards, which will soon be at the service of the users of the territory” as recalled Jerome BalogeChairman of Niort Agglo.
