Deutschlandstipendium: Meet and Greet 2021

President Prof. Dr. Stefan Herzig welcomed the more than 200 scholarship holders and sponsors via live stream from the auditorium of the TH Köln. “2020 was a difficult year for many companies and institutions, and the future also holds a great deal of uncertainty in store. We therefore appreciate the fact that our sponsors did not apply the red pen to the Germany Scholarship, ”emphasized Prof. Dr. Stefan Herzig explained the importance of funding for the university and its students. Prof. Dr. Sylvia Heuchemer, Vice President for Teaching and Studies, added: “Especially in economically difficult times such as the corona pandemic, a scholarship can be of decisive importance for students to continue their studies. My thanks therefore go to all companies, foundations and associations that support young talented people in the current situation and thereby enable them to study with a little more worry. “

115 Bachelor students and 65 Master students receive a Germany Scholarship in the current funding cycle. Four sponsors have increased the number of scholarships or have decided to extend the funding period. In addition, TH Köln was able to win five new sponsors. The Cologne high school and foundation fund is the largest sponsor. The premium sponsors also include the Association of Sponsors of the Institute for Insurance at the Technical University of Cologne and the Hans Hermann Voss Foundation.

Sponsors and students were able to meet during the event in breakout sessions. The university had organized a breakout room for each sponsoring institution, in which the grantor could exchange ideas with “his” grant recipients and make further agreements on, for example, internships.

The Germany Scholarship

The Deutschlandstipendium supports talented and high-performing students at state and state-recognized universities nationwide. The program gives the students EUR 300 per month each. The sponsors won by the university pay 150 euros, and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) costs 150 euros.

In addition to good academic achievements, the selection also includes the special voluntary commitment of the students, for example in politics, culture, society or science. In addition, personal circumstances that make studying difficult are taken into account.
