The mine of the German Museum is famous. Generations of Munich residents associate childhood memories with diving into the depths of the labyrinth. Because of the general renovation of the house, it now has to be expanded. The museum organizers are currently wracking their brains over whether and how it can return. There is still no money for the restoration, and monument protection makes things even more difficult, says Andreas Gundelwein, the responsible curator. He is a geoscientist, mining specialist and knows every corner of this very special exhibition. And he has visions of what it could look like in the future.
