Deutsche Telecom confirms that the sale of T-Mobile Netherlands is an option – Tablets and telephones – News

Deutsche Telecom, T-Mobile’s parent company, is considering selling T-Mobile Netherlands. It is not yet certain whether there will be a sale, but the business unit has been placed under ‘strategic review’.

In a presentation to investors Deutsche Telecom announced that it is going to see whether the part of T-Mobile Netherlands can be worth more by selling it. The company does not mention an asking price. According to previous reports from the Financieel Dagblad Deutsche Telecom would like to receive around four to five billion euros for T-Mobile Netherlands.

In addition to T-Mobile Netherlands, Deutsche Telecom is also considering the sale of its transmission towers. For both parts there is no hurry with a possible sale and no final decision has yet been taken as to whether it will actually go ahead, the company emphasizes.

T-Mobile Netherlands is profitable and it is the largest mobile provider in the Netherlands, but has fewer fixed internet and TV customers than Ziggo and KPN. Deutsche Telecom owns 75 percent of the shares. The other 25 percent are owned by the Swedish Tele2. According to Telecompaper Tele2 has also indicated that it wants to sell its stake in T-Mobile.
