From March, Deutsche Bahn will tighten the access conditions for the DB Lounge. What travelers at Frankfurt Central Station and at the airport will soon have to consider.

Frankfurt – If it takes a little longer at Frankfurt Central Station, this is a good place to while away the time: the DB Lounge. Deutsche Bahn calls their residence area the “1. class at the train station.

But not every traveler has access to the DB Lounge at Frankfurt Central Station. Up to now the following has been required as an admission ticket:

  • BahnBonus status customers and one person accompanying them
  • BahnCard 100 holders and one person accompanying them
  • Travelers with a valid 1st class DB long-distance travel card in the Flexpreis tariff

From March 1st, however, Deutsche Bahn will tighten its access restrictions for the DB Lounge. The group reveals this in two short sentences, hidden on the information page of the DB lounges. According to this, from March “a general ticket obligation (valid DB long-distance ticket) and a ban on accompanying persons in the premium area will apply”. The group did not provide any information about the background to the decision.

Frankfurt Central Station: Unaccompanied access to the DB Lounge in future

So anyone who is going to be accompanied in the future will have to make a decision: either walk alone to the DB Lounge or stay together in the station hall. The placement of Frankfurt Central Station in the ranking of the best central stations in Europe shows that this is not a bad idea either.

In addition to Frankfurt Central Station, there is also a DB Lounge at the long-distance train station at Frankfurt Airport. Travelers will also find the lounge area at the main train stations in Berlin, Bremen, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Essen, Hamburg, Hanover, Cologne, Leipzig, Mannheim, Munich, Nuremberg and Stuttgart. The B level at Frankfurt Central Station is currently being renovated. The renovation should be completed by the 2024 European Football Championship, but the schedule is in jeopardy. The city and Deutsche Bahn have now settled a dispute.
