WEITERSTADT/PFUNGSSTADT – Deutsche Bahn (DB) is on the road in the region again this year to provide information about its plans for the new railway line between Frankfurt and Mannheim. After the infomobile stopped in the northern section of the new line last year, the DB is now continuing the tour southwards from Weiterstadt.

The info mobile will be coming to Darmstadt, Weiterstadt, Pfungstadt, Alsbach-Hähnlein, Gernsheim, Langwaden, Lorsch, Lampertheim and Einhausen between the end of May and the end of June. Project employees are on site between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. and invite you to find out first-hand about the current planning status and to ask questions. The current hygiene rules apply.

The dates: Wednesday, May 25: Weiterstadt (Media Ship car park, Darmstädter Straße 40) and Wednesday, June 1: Pfungstadt (Festplatz Mühlstraße, corner of Christian-Stock-Straße). All other dates can be found at www.frankfurt-mannheim.de.

The planned new railway line between Frankfurt and Mannheim connects the Rhine-Main and Rhine-Neckar metropolitan areas and will in future represent a central connection in the Deutsche Bahn high-speed network significantly improves local and long-distance transport in the region.

According to plans, the new line will run parallel to the A 5 autobahn from Zeppelinheim and along the A 67 autobahn from Darmstadt to Lorsch. From Lorsch, the route will largely run in a tunnel via Lampertheim to Mannheim-Waldhof. Darmstadt will be connected to the passenger transport network with a north and a south connection.

Freight traffic from Mainz reaches the new route via the so-called Weiterstadt curve. For the first section between Zeppelinheim and Darmstadt, the planning approval documents were submitted to the responsible Federal Railway Authority in November last year.
