Chaos on various Deutsche Bahn routes in the Ruhr area!
And that doesn’t mean the usual chaos of delays that commuters face every day. The situation is currently even more precarious. Therefore, Deutsche Bahn explicitly warns of restrictions on various S-Bahn and RB/RE lines. Here you get all the information.
Deutsche Bahn in the Ruhr area: Chaos leads to partial failures
As announced by Deutsche Bahn on Tuesday morning (November 15), these are currently mainly five important local transport lines on which there may be restrictions. But it’s not just a few delays in the morning rush hour. In fact, the railway speaks of “temporary limitations” without giving more precise data.
In detail, these are the following connections in both directions:
- Yes 2: Dortmund Central Station – Herne – Recklinghausen Central Station/Essen Central Station
- Yes 9: Haltern am See – Bottrop – Essen – Velbert-Langenberg – Wuppertal – Hagen
- RB 32: Duisburg Central Station – Gelsenkirchen Central Station – Castrop-Rauxel Central Station – Dortmund Central Station
- RE 42: Mönchengladbach – Krefeld – Essen – Gelsenkirchen – Recklinghausen – Haltern – Münster
- RE 49: Wuppertal Hbf – Essen Hbf – Oberhausen Hbf – Dinslaken – Wesel
All important connections in the whole area between Mönchengladbach, Essen, Dortmund and Münster. What is the reason for this mess?
Deutsche Bahn in the Ruhr area: severe staff shortage
The railway explains the restrictions and possible (partial) bankruptcies with “high sick leave”. Apparently, the cold season is taking its toll on railway staff and there probably aren’t enough replacements available.
More news:
But one way or another, no train runs unmanned. The passengers are now on the cold platform and have to check alternative timetables and connections in the coming days to reach their destinations in the Ruhr area.
