Deutsche Bahn Express Train Takes Wrong Turn on Journey to Berlin

AOn the route from Hildesheim to Berlin, a Deutsche Bahn express train took a wrong turn on Sunday morning. Between Braunschweig and Wolfsburg, the ICE was briefly misdirected in the direction of Magdeburg, as a railway spokesman confirmed. As the railway further announced, the error was quickly noticed.

The ICE had already made its unscheduled stopover at Schandelah station near Braunschweig. The drivers then switched to the rear head of the train and drove back towards Braunschweig. From there, the ICE would have continued the journey towards Berlin – including all stops – with a delay of around 30 minutes. The exact cause of the breakdown is still under investigation.

First, the NDR reported on the incident, because a reporter was on the train. He reported that the passengers took the incident calmly: “The few passengers acknowledged this with a smile and a few funny sayings.”
