Deus Ex- and Guardians of the Galaxy author brought in for next …

Just before the weekend, it became clear that game writer Mary DeMarle had left Eidos Montreal, after almost 15 years with the developer. The award-winning narrative designer took a job at Bioware, and now we know what she will be working on.

Monday night confirmed Michael Gamble, project manager at Bioware, that DeMarle will lead the work on the story in the next Mass Effect. We still know little about the upcoming game, but the hiring news has received a positive reception among fans.

– This is the best Mass Effect news we have received in years. Go and play Deus Ex Human Revolution. Go and play Deus Ex Mankind Divided. That author will now lead the writing team on the next Mass Effect. This is very good, wrote a Twitter user.

DeMarle has received a lot of good reviews for its work with the newer Deus Ex games. She also led the winning story work for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy the award for best narrative under The Game Awards 2021.

Work on the next Mass Effect game received a lot of attention earlier this spring, when the official Bioware store announced that Commander Shepard would make a comeback. However, Gamble quickly came on the scene to say that it was a mistake, so the details of the project are still just as unclear.
