The Detroit Lions sacked linebacker Jamie Collins on Tuesday, the team announced.
Detroit had started soliciting offers for the former Pro Bowl defender last week but was unable to reach an agreement. Collins did not participate in training last week and did not play against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
Collins, who led the Lions with 101 tackles in 2020, posted 10 tackles and a quarterback hit while running for Detroit in the first two games of the season.
The 31 year old can help any Front Seven, at a relatively low cost. According to Field Yates (ESPN), he will receive $ 8.8 million from the Lions this year.
A former second-round pick, Collins began his career with the New England Patriots and he also played for the Cleveland Browns.
