Determination of Russian Anti-Aircraft Missiles by American F-35s Over Ukrainian Territory, Singapore Claims

Singaporean Defense Minister Ng Eng Hen said that American F-35s are actively participating in missions over Ukrainian territory. The purpose of these missions is to determine the exact location of Russian anti-aircraft missile systems.

“In recent actions, the United States mobilized its F-35s to identify the deployment of Russian anti-aircraft missile systems on the territory of Ukraine. The collected intelligence is subsequently disseminated in NATO countries,” the head of the Singapore military department is quoted as saying bulgarianmilitary.com.

The portal recalls that a similar case of the use of F-35s in support of Ukraine was reported in April last year. Then the American pilot said that the F-35 he piloted was used to determine the location of the Russian S-300 system stationed near the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.

It is noted that a source from the Singapore Military Ministry describes the aircraft as an “electronic vacuum cleaner,” an advanced instrument capable of collecting enormous amounts of information.

“Described by the military as electronics vacuum cleaners, the F-35 is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to help collect a variety of intelligence data. This includes the APG-81 AFAR radar, AN/ASQ-239 electronic warfare system and EOTS electro-optical system. Simply put, the F-35 “It is an additional component that has been added to the complex network of platforms and sensors that are currently used by Western countries, led by the United States, to provide Ukraine with critical intelligence information,” the publication says.

Despite the F-35’s advanced capabilities that allow it to detect and identify enemy systems, there are situations where this functionality does not always produce results. In particular, during a previous such incident, the F-35 pilot was unable to detect the S-300 installation. At the time, he argued that this was due to the fact that Russian air defenses are in “combat reserve mode,” a rather unusual mode in which the S-300 radars remain passive, thereby collecting data without emitting it.

F-35 for Ukraine

Let us recall that earlier experts came to the conclusion that Ukraine should not count on the supply of F-35s. Among the reasons for this is the high price of the fighter, almost twice the cost of the F-16.

Therefore, according to analysts, American taxpayers are unlikely to support the transfer of the latest aircraft.
