Al-Marsad Newspaper: A recent study revealed a link between consuming the popular artificial sweetener erythritol and an increased risk of heart attack and stroke.
And researchers at the “Cleveland Clinic” in the United States of America found that those who had high levels of erythritol in their blood had an increased risk of a harmful heart condition such as a heart attack, stroke or death.
Scientists found that adding erythritol to the blood as a whole, or to platelets separately, made the reaction and clot formation easier.
According to the study, which was published in the journal Nature Medicine, erythritol is a chemical whose sweetness is estimated at about 70 percent of the sweetness of sugar, and it is produced by fermenting corn.
