Detecting Symptoms of Cholesterol, Hypertension and Diabetes, Head of Posbindu PTM Ngalau: Watch Your Diet

MINANGKABAUNEWS.COM, PADANG PANJANG – Health workers from the Gunung Puskesmas with cadres of the Integrated Development Post (Posbindu) for Non-Communicable Diseases (PTM) Ngalau Village, Padang Panjang Timur District (PTT).

Head of Posbindu PTM Ngalau, Linda Marni, during a health check on residents, Saturday (11/6) at RT 14, Sago Residence Housing Complex. Padang Panjang Timur said the symptoms of hypertension, diabetes, and cholesterol were often encountered because the person did not maintain a healthy diet and live.

“If it becomes a disease, it will have complications. If you have hypertension, you will have cholesterol, and you can go straight to stroke. If sugar can run to the kidneys, hypertension can also go away,” he said.

By knowing these symptoms, Linda continued, one should avoid consuming foods that cause the disease. Then multiply eating fruit, vegetables, and often exercise.

“There are some NCDs that are hereditary, but currently many are due to an unhealthy diet. High fat, high sugar. This is what triggers PTM. This should be avoided,” he explained.

At Posbindu PTM, Linda explained, they carry out early detection and educate the public. “We start by interviewing patients, asking the patient’s medical history, medical history from heredity,” he said.

Furthermore, also ask about diet. Then, measuring weight, height, abdominal circumference, measuring blood pressure, checking cholesterol, uric acid, sugar, and counseling with health workers.

“Hopefully, there should be two Posbindu in Ngalau. Currently there is only one Posbindu. We cover 14 RTs, the target age is 15-59 years, around 1500 people,” he explained. (Edi Fatra/ris)
