Details about various MSI motherboards with Z690 chipset have surfaced online. The company would come with several models in its MEG, MPG, MAG and Pro series. The manufacturer has also put teasers of three of its Z690 motherboards online.
The information comes from Twitter user momomo_us and was first noticed by VideoCardz. Among other things, the company is introducing a Z690 ACE in its MEG series, which should become MSI’s highest-ranking Z690 motherboard. The company would also introduce MEG Unify motherboards; MSI’s Unify models typically have an all-black design with no RGB LEDs.
In the lower-ranked MPG series, the company comes with Carbon, Edge and Force motherboards with Wi-Fi. Also mentioned is a MAG Z690 Tomahawk Wifi, a MAG Z690 Torpedo and several MSI Pro motherboards. However, some of those models incorrectly call socket LGA1200; Alder Lake CPUs use Intel’s socket LGA1700.
All those motherboards mentioned will have support for DDR5 memory. However, momomo_us information also mentions MPG Z690 Edge, MAG Z690 Tomahawk, and three Pro Z690 motherboards with DDR4 support. Those are standalone models. DDR4 and DDR5 are not backwards compatible.
It Twitter account of MSI Ukraine has since published some teaser images of three motherboards, which are from the MEG, MPG and MAG series. One of the teaser images shows the MSI MEG Z690 ACE, which appears to have two Thunderbolt 4 type C connectors, among other things. The MPG model shown supports Wi-Fi 6E and the teased MAG motherboard also has Wi-Fi antennas, though it’s not clear whether these support the Wi-Fi 6E standard.
