Details of the participation of 4 films in the Tetouan Mediterranean Film Festival – Art

Four feature films are participating in the 28th edition of the Tetouan Film Festival for the Mediterranean, which runs from March 3 to 10. They are The Palestinian Flag by Firas Khoury, The Syrian Exodus by Suad Kaadan, The Tunisian Island of Forgiveness by Reda El Bahi, and The French Our Ties by Rushdi Zem.

Alam and Exodus are competing in the official competition. Alam will be shown on Monday, March 6, and Exodus on Wednesday, March 8. The Island of Forgiveness will be screened in the Coup de Coeur section on Monday, March 6, while Our Ties will conclude the festival’s activities on Friday, March 10.

About the participating films

Exodus, written and directed by Soudad Kaadan, starring Kinda Alloush, Samer Al-Masry, Hala Zain, Nizar Al-Ani and Darina Al-Jundi, and won two awards at the Venice Festival.

It tells the story of a Syrian family facing internal conflicts after the destruction of their home, and the life of the child Zina changes after arguments between her mother and father over a fateful decision to leave.

Alam, written and directed by Firas Khoury, starring Mahmoud Bakri, Cyrine Khas, Saleh Bakri and Muhammad Karaki, and won 3 awards in the latest editions of the Cairo Festival, including the best film. It revolves around Tamer, a Palestinian teenager who lives a traditional life with his high school friends until their beautiful classmate, Maysa, appears. To impress her, Tamer agrees to participate in a mysterious operation called Alam that turns his life upside down.

The Island of Forgiveness, written and directed by Reda El Bahi, co-starring Ali Bannour, Mohamed Ali Bin Jumaa, Paula Fini, Katia Greco, Badis El Bahi and Italian star Claudia Cardinale. The 60-year-old comes to the island, his native land, to fulfill his mother Rosa’s last wishes, and there his old memories awaken within him, pushing him into a painful past.

Directed by Rushdie Zem and co-written with Mayween, Our Ties stars award-winning stars Sami Bouajila, French star Mayween, Rachid Bouchareb, Rushedy Zem and Maryam Sarbah. The famous TV presenter is hated by those around him because of his selfishness, and his only defender is Musa, who has a strong admiration for him.

A strong fall causes Musa to suffer severe brain trauma, which causes him to indiscriminately speak harsh truths to his friends and family alike.
