The murder of former Cuban ambassador Félix Andrés León Carballo in Havana generated shock among the citizens of the Islandand while the case remains active, his family revealed some details about what happened.
According to Jorge Galvez, a Miami resident and nephew of the deceased, the former official died as a result of a robbery in his home, where, due to the absence of other valuable assets, the thieves only managed to take a television.
This person indicated that, despite his position as a Castro official, León Carballo’s life was marked by humility, which is why he never accumulated luxuries, and since he retired, he had been supported by his family abroad.
The family of the deceased flatly denies that he was murdered by the Castro government itself, a theory that gained popularity on social networks and assures that the regime did not want him to tell the things he witnessed in his years as Cuban ambassador in Belarus, Ukraine. and Czech Republic.
Galvez affirm that his death was due to the fact that he was another victim of violence on the Island, at the hands of criminals who were looking to make some easy money in the midst of the most serious economic crisis that the Island has gone through in its history.
“My uncle did not deserve an end like that,” lamented his nephew, who points out that his family is devastated and does not understand how someone would want to harm a person who never sought problems with others.
During a conversation with the influencer Eliecer Ávila, the deceased’s nephew indicated that the former ambassador’s mother is currently in Miami, as is the case with the relatives of many Castro officials.
Galvez indicated that, due to her advanced state of health and her almost 100 years of age, she has not been informed of the unfortunate news.
The former official’s sister assures that she regrets having sent monetary aid from the United States, as she maintains that this could have attracted the attention of criminals, giving the wrong idea about what they could find inside her home.
Finally, León’s nephew asked the community to have compassion for his family in these difficult times, emphasizing that this was not a political objective nor did he have dangerous enemies.
In his opinion, the life of his relative was cut short by the rampant crime that has been recorded in the Greater Antilles for months.
“We need a change in Cuba, a system that protects all citizens, not just a few,” he said.
According to the police investigation, there are two people who have been detained for allegedly being related to the incident, but until now their identity and the exact cause of the former ambassador’s death are unknown.
