Head coach Antonio Conte, 54, has been without a job since leaving Tottenham at the end of March last year.
The other day, the tactician was said to have agreed with Napoli on a contract, even though it was not entirely clear at the time that he would take over the Serie A ninth. Rumors about Milan have also circulated around him.
But now there are reports that claim that the Italian is instead eligible for a return to the Premier League.
La Repubblica state that Chelsea are in contact with Conte. According to the newspaper, “The Blues” plan to fire Mauricio Pochettino after the current season and have therefore turned to their ex-coach in search of a replacement.
As you know, Conte was in charge of Chelsea between 2016-2018 and led the team to two titles.
Furthermore, La Repubblica writes that the 54-year-old himself would prefer to return to Italy. However, Chelsea entices by offering him a project with large resources for investment in new acquisitions, something he has previously made high demands on his clubs to make available to him.
The London club are said to have already sent a “lucrative offer” to Conte. They are now trying to persuade him to return to Stamford Bridge. The contacts are said to have intensified in recent days.
Earlier in his career, Conte has coached Tottenham, Inter, Juventus, Siena, Atalanta, Bari and the Italian men’s national team.
