Dr. Jasper Vöckel, Physician-Scientist in der Child and adolescent psychiatry at the University Hospital in Cologne, has received the MD Travel Award from the American Psychosomatic Society. The $1,200 award allows him to attend the 2022 Scientific Meeting of the American Psychosomatic Society in Long Beach, California. There he presents data on predictors for the therapy response of depression in adolescence over a period of one year follow-up. In a poster contribution, he will also give an overview of the current data on anti-inflammatory therapies in adolescence. In the research group around Univ.-Prof. dr Julian Koenig, the Dr. Vöckel, his focus is on therapy-resistant depression. The team is currently setting up a neuromodulation outpatient clinic in which stimulation therapies with transcranial magnetic stimulation and transcranial direct current stimulation are offered to adolescents with treatment-resistant depression.
