Unbelievable tension was noted on the set of the show “Smile Again” with presenter Sissy Christidou on the occasion of a discussion about the femicide in Agioi Anargyros with the victim 28-year-old Kyriaki Griva who had asked for help from the police.
The altercation took place between the journalist Nikos Syrigos and the president of the Police Officers of Southeast Attica, George Kalliakmanis. In fact, the latter became furious at one point and left the set of the show.
The dialogue:
George Kalliakmanis: Don’t forget the policemen carried grandparents and dogs to the fires.
Nikos Syrigos: I can hear what you’re saying now, see. These are of no importance to the father of the girl, Topaloudi, Caroline. They don’t matter to these people, you’re all crying over spilled milk. You will be suffocated by the rage of the citizens, the rage of the mother and father who lose their child.
George Kalliakmanis: Listen to me very carefully because you are referring to the plural. I don’t allow you because I did my job in the best way for 30 years in the Greek police. Did you get it? If you want to watch TV, I don’t even care.
Nikos Syrigos: The children are not turning back now.
George Kalliakmanis: Do you want me to tell you that you are playing tricks on a girl’s grave? I don’t say it, but you say it about me. Do you know my career path? Enter to read my bio. I have taken citizens to their homes with my car. These police officers are from within the society. They were not taken from some other piece. This is society. They see someone down and nobody cares.
Sissy Christidou: I don’t believe that. It is a public servant logic from generation to generation.
Nikos Syrigos: I expect you to have the composure to understand that this is not a personal issue.
George Kalliakmanis: It’s personal because I have two girls.
Nikos Syrigos: I have two girls too.
George Kalliakmanis: Since you have two daughters, respect a father who takes the place of a father.
Nikos Syrigos: Hey George, why do you take it personally?
George Kalliakmanis: Thank you very much for calling me. I take it personally because you refer to the plural. I too support all my colleagues who have given their blood, whose fathers and mothers have cried. Did you bring me here to tell me to be ashamed? Shame on those you vote for.
Giorgos Kalliakmanis took out his microphone and then walked away irritated.
