FAJAR.CO.ID, MAKASSAR — At least 638,524 grams of methamphetamine-type narcotics were destroyed by the Makassar Police Narcotics Research Unit (Satresnarkoba), on Tuesday (19/9/2023).
The methamphetamine evidence was destroyed using a blender.
Head of the Makassar Police Narcotics Unit, AKBP Doli M Tanjung, accompanied by the South Sulawesi Police Labfor Team, dissolved the illegal items in water and then put them in a blender.
Once it is declared dissolved and mixed with water, the methamphetamine is then thrown away in the toilet.
Before the destruction, the South Sulawesi Police Labfor Team first examined the evidence.
As a result, the evidence confiscated from the two drug dealers contained methamphetamine.
Doli said that the evidence that was destroyed was confiscated from two perpetrators who were arrested, each with the initials MR (21) and ZK (20).
“From the arrest of the two, the Makassar Police Narcotics Unit Opsnal Team succeeded in confiscating 708,285 grams of evidence,” said Doli in front of the media crew.
Hundreds of grams of narcotics, said Doli, were then included as evidence at trial.
“So what we destroyed was 638,524 grams of narcotics,” said Doli.
If converted into rupiah, Doli said, the value is approximately IDR 1 billion.
“From the destruction of evidence, at least 3,500 people were saved from the dangers of drugs, especially those in Greater Makassar,” said Doli.
The overall evidence confiscated by officers consisted of seven medium-sized plastic sachets containing clear crystals suspected to be crystal methamphetamine and one medium-sized empty plastic sachet.
