Manchester United won 1-0 Royal company. Unfortunately, the result only brought the Red Devils to second place in the group.
In the sixth match of Group E Europa League 2022/2023 which was held at the Anoeta Stadium on Friday (4/11/2022) early in the morning WIB, MU, who needed a two-goal win, only made one attempt on goal out of a total of four.
Sociedad was even more aggressive with 13 attempts, four on goal. The only goal in this match was scored by Alejandro Garnacho in the 17th minute.
The MU finally finished second with 15 points, losing by goal difference (+7) compared to Sociedad who won the group with (+8). MU had to play a play-off against the rejected teams of the Champions League and Sociedad went straight to the round of 16.

Both wanted to win, Sociedad and MU played in attack from the very first minutes. In the sixth minute Mikel Merino received a through ball and entered the MU defense.
Merino tries to beat David de Gea from a tight angle, but the ball ends up on the side. Unfortunately it doesn’t count as an opportunity because he’s already offside.
MU scored from his first dangerous attack in the 17th minute. De Gea released a long pass to Bruno Fernandes on the right.
The surname gives it to Cristiano Ronaldowho quickly provided a through ball to Alejandro Garnacho who escaped Andonio Gorosabel’s control, before shooting into the top corner of Alex Remiro’s goal.

MU needs another goal to finish as group winners, so they put more pressure on Sociedad. Garnacho nearly scored the second goal in the 27th minute after crossing two players, but his shot went off balance.
Sociedad had a chance four minutes before the first half dispersion. Pablo Marin receives the ball from Sorloth and shoots immediately, even if still wide.
Ronaldo was close to scoring in the 42nd minute when he bounced the ball behind Remiro who was out of the net too quickly. Unfortunately for Ronaldo, the ball hit the door.
Double save by De Gea in the 44th minute. The first was Gorosabel’s curling effort which parried and the rebound landed at Marin’s feet. However, De Gea managed to block the header.
After falling behind in the first half, Sociedad took the initiative to attack and press the MU defense. However, some of the chances obtained did not jeopardize the visitors’ goals.
The first clear opportunity for Sociedad came in the 74th minute when Ander Guevara found the ball in the area and threw a shot that was saved by De Gea.
Four minutes later it was Robert Navarro’s turn to shoot from the penalty area, blocked by Luke Shaw.
MU more pressing in the last five minutes of the match plus injury time, but Sociedad still maintains a 1-0 win and lolo as group winners.
