Franziska Preuss on the rise
The 30-year-old star biathlete Franziska Preuss, who ended her 2024 season immediately after the World Championships, became national champion in the individual race this morning in Altenberg.
Despite two shooting errors, Preuss completed the 12.5 km in 37’51, 27 seconds ahead of Johanna Puff (also 18/20). This promising athlete in the discipline, 22 years old, took part in a World Cup for the first time in March of this year.
Marion Wiesensarter, who has not had much success in recent winters, completes the podium 41 seconds behind and with three shooting errors.

Important competitions for the future
These German Championships, which will continue throughout the weekend, are very important for the rest of the season. The coaches will take these results into account when putting together the national team that will compete in the IBU Cup in winter.
Anna Weidel, with two shooting errors, takes fourth place in this 12.5 km race, 1:40 minutes behind. The great hope of German biathlon, Selina Grotian, takes fifth place, 1:49 minutes behind with 16/20 hits.
Sophia Schneider, Stefanie Scherer, Julia Vogler, Lena Hanses and Marlene Fichtner also made it into the top 10.
