“The prosecutor and his family have received threats, including an envelope with a white powder that thankfully was determined to be nothing serious,” said Democratic congressman Adriano Espaillat. “We are here to support him. There is a process already underway, he has heard the evidence from the witnesses and we hope that the grand jury this week will reach a conclusion.”

And for this reason we are here, added the congressman, “because we understand that the process must continue and that nobody, absolutely nobody, not even a past president, is above the law.”

On the other hand, some Republican members of the House of Representatives have asked prosecutor Bragg to testify before Congress about the impeachment of former President Trump, who began his campaign for the White House 2024 over the weekend, with an event in Waco, Texas.

At the event, Trump referred to Bragg’s investigation, saying that he did nothing wrong or criminal. However, on his social media he wrote about “potential death and destruction” if he is charged.

“Everyone in the community supports prosecutor Bragg, as he has been committed to fighting gun violence, long before he became a prosecutor, and has always been a fair man,” said Lesha Sekou, an activist with Street Corner Resources. .

“It is time for them to clean up… and the lack of respect that Trump and his family have had for the people of New York and the United States,” Luna added.
