Emissions in Europe have increased since the end of the pandemic, but the trend appears to have reversed since August. Is it too early to rejoice?
First, Russia invaded Ukraine. Then Putin cut off gas supplies to Europe. Gas prices have skyrocketed. Since the outbreak of the war, many experts have predicted that the situation will lead to an increase in greenhouse gas emissions in Europe in the short term.
He did too, but in the last few months something has happened: From August to October, emissions in Europe fell by 6 percent compared to the previous year.
