Despite the pandemic, Swiss hospitals have not run out of blood

Despite the pandemic, the supply of Swiss hospitals was assured for all blood products in 2021.

The average age of donors of blood stem cells, necessary for serious diseases, has also declined, a development welcomed by the organization Transfusion CRS Switzerland.

Last year, “blood donation remained possible at all times and in complete safety thanks to the proven protection plan”, noted the organization in a press release published on Wednesday. It recorded just over 268,000 donations in 2021, compared to just over 266,000 the previous year
