The employees of the Bavarian Red Cross in the Habergen are very satisfied: They held six blood donation appointments in February. With great success: 770 men and women donated blood and were not deterred by hygiene and distance rules.
As the Red Cross announced, the blood donation appointments are still different than before the corona pandemic, but donors and helpers are extremely patient with the appointments, so that everything goes smoothly despite the distance, hygiene rules and short waiting times. “In total, we were able to welcome 49 first-time donors”, says Simone Gilley from the volunteer service at the BRK district association Haberge. “A total of 770 blood donors came.”
Due to the corona pandemic and the associated high hygienic standards, all hygiene and protective measures will continue to be implemented in order to keep possible infection and spread of the corona virus as low as possible for donors and staff, explains Gilley: “Thank you very much to all of our loyal blood donors in the district of Haberge, who support and implement these measures with us. “
Lived willingness to help
The population in the district has proven that even a pandemic could not stop them from helping other people with a blood donation. The number of first-time donors in the district also shows that more and more people are ready to help others with their blood. “Together against indifference” is, in Gilley’s words, an unbroken motto of the donors. That makes them a “lifesaver” and a role model in society. The donors at a glance:
