PSG’s defeat on Arsenal’s pitch on Tuesday in the Champions League (2-0)has not damaged Joao Neves’ confidence. The 20-year-old midfielder showed great optimism about the rest of the Parisian season, despite this setback. If he regrets the start of his team’s match at the Emirates Stadium, he remembers the reaction of his partners in the second half and looks forward to the future with appetite.
“It was a complicated match and we didn’t start very well,” agrees the former Benfica player, who arrived in Paris this summer. “In the first half, Arsenal deserved this victory. It came down to details and in the second half, we had chances to score and win but unfortunately we didn’t do it. To win, you have to score and we weren’t able to.”
“It’s a competition that is both very beautiful and very complicated,” he adds. “PSG is at a top level currently with a lot of qualities. We have been progressing since the start of the season and we will continue like this.”
Joao Neves concluded by proclaiming his support for the playing ideas of his coach Luis Enrique. “We are confident for the future, me and the rest of the team,” promises the Portuguese international (11 caps). “We are a very good team, with great ideas. We will continue like this because we believe in ourselves.”
