Despite loosening: That’s why concerts don’t take place – music

The lockdown measures were easily softened. Live music is still not allowed. But you obviously don’t want to either.

Concerts have been in short supply for almost a year now. Dietmar Lienbacher emphasizes that there was no need to do without live shows in 2020: “In August, for example, the Seer played a concert in Gmunden. After that, there were no infections, let alone clusters. There was a very professional handling of the situation.” He was of the opinion that it was definitely time to unlock one or the other concert hall.

Death knell for music?

Hannes Tschürtz from Ink.Music also hope that they will finally play live again in 2021, but it should also be economically worthwhile. Because the shows last year hardly gave the artists a plus. He says: “You could celebrate a Nova Rock with only Austrian acts. However, it’s difficult if you can only take a third.” To put it more figuratively, he explains: “If only 200 instead of 1,000 people are allowed to come into the arena, then you can work out how much it is worth it.”

Should 2021 be a “concertless” year, it would be almost the death knell for local music: “Then you can no longer keep up,” said Tschürtz. Because live shows would ensure that productions can be paid for again. And not only through the fees, but also through royalties, merchandise and even CD sales.
