Due to an increase in corona infections, large parts of the greater Lisbon area have to go back into the lockdown for two weeks on July 1st. The Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa announced on Thursday. The residents of the 19 affected communities in the metropolitan area will therefore only be allowed to go out to do shopping, go to work or see a doctor. The districts in the center of Lisbon are not affected.
“UEFA is in constant contact with the Portuguese football association and with the Portuguese authorities,” said the continental association. “We hope that everything will be fine and that it will be possible to organize the Final Eight in Portugal.” From the quarter-finals, all Champions League games are to take place in Lisbon from August 12th to 23rd.
