Despite declining turnover, Barcelona remain the richest club in the world

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich occupy the other two places in the top 3 of this ranking.

Lhe FC Barcelona remains the richest football club in the world, despite heavy losses due to the coronavirus crisis, according to the annual Football Money League of the specialist agency Deloitte.

Barca saw their annual turnover drop to € 715.1million, down € 125.7million from the previous season. This 15% drop in turnover is greater than the average loss of 12% by the top twenty clubs. In total, they recorded a turnover of 8.2 billion euros for the 2019-2020 season, or 1.1 billion euros less than the previous season which was a record.

Declining media revenues and little or no revenue from match box office revenues were cited as the main reasons for these losses. By the end of the current season, the loss in revenue will reach $ 2 billion, Deloitte calculated.

Real Madrid are number 2 on the list. The Madrileños achieved a turnover of 714.9 million euros, or 6% less than twelve months earlier. The third place is occupied by Bayern Munich, winner of the Champions League, with 634.1 million euros. Fourth place goes to Manchester United with € 580.4 million. The Red Devils saw their turnover decline by 19%. England champion Liverpool rounds out the top 5 with a record of 558.6 million euros.
