In the Corona lockdown, in addition to the hard rules, the appeal: Stay at home and reduce social contacts. But the rush to the ski and toboggan areas continues – whether in the district of Miesbach, Traunstein, in the Harz or in the Sauerland. The police have a lot to do.
Miesbach / Ruhpolding / Winterberg – Once again, many day trippers in the Sauerland and Harz have made their way to the skiing and tobogganing areas – despite repeated requests not to do so in lockdown. Police and regulatory authorities wrote reports on Saturday for numerous violations of the corona protection measures, as a spokeswoman for the city of Winterberg said. Long lines of cars and traffic jams formed in the snow-covered towns of the region, and the parking spaces filled up.
No opportunities to warm up, no rescuers on site
The police announced on Twitter in the morning that they would give the city increased support over the weekend in enforcing the general decree on the mask requirement and the corona protection ordinance. For this, forces of the riot police would also be called in.

Lifts and slopes, restaurants and huts are closed until at least January 10th. The operators of the winter sports arena and the ski lift carousel point out on their website that there are no toilets and no opportunities to warm up – and there are no rescuers on site. There it says: «We love our mountains. You also determine: But in these times we have to let this love rest, because the onslaught leads to traffic jams and crowds. Congested streets, lack of parking spaces and lots of potential contacts. Who wants that? “
Rush of day trippers in the Miesbach district
Due to overcrowding, the police in the Harz continue to advise against trips to the winter mountains. But the rush continued there: hikers and tobogganists headed for the parking spaces in the partly snow-covered places on Saturday morning. The Goslar police tweeted in the morning that the parking lots were largely full. She appealed to day-trippers to move widely to other areas in the Harz Mountains and to keep the escape routes free. The large car park in Torfhaus was also overcrowded, with many drivers parked on the side of the road.

A photo of a self-made sign from the Miesbach district is making the rounds on Facebook, on which it says: “Fuck off! We don’t want you … “The popular excursion destinations around Tegernsee, Schliersee and Spitzingsee are visited by hikers, touring and day trippers despite the Corona lockdown.
Similar pictures in the district of Traunstein: Shortly before the turn of the year, a video of Weitsee and the three lakes area between Reit im Winkl and Ruhpolding is making the rounds on social media. Numerous people cavort there on the ice. It is unclear whether spacing and masking rules are observed.

In any case, the appeal of a member of the Reit im Winkl water rescue service on Facebook: People should get off the ice. Because the measurement of the ice thickness showed that people put their lives in danger if they go too far out onto the frozen water.

Meanwhile, the weather in Germany remains wintry and dreary for the time being. Today, Sunday (January 3rd) there is a thick cloud cover, but it hardly brings any snow in the southeast of Bavaria. The meteorologists of the German Meteorological Service anticipate that it will snow in many other regions during the day – in a strip from Baden-Württemberg via Hesse and Thuringia to Saxony and Brandenburg.
