Despite corona guidelines, Manchester City wants to be a place of honor for Liverpool | NOW

Manchester City plans to form an honorary hedge for champion Liverpool on Thursday. The two teams then play against each other in the Premier League.

The protocol of football in corona time requires that the players enter the field at a distance of 1.5 meters from each other. All usual pre-game activities such as shaking hands and team photos are temporarily prohibited.

“But of course we’re just going to be an honor for Liverpool,” said City manager Josep Guardiola. “We want to greet Liverpool in our stadium in an overwhelming way. We do that because they deserve it.”

Liverpool amassed 86 of the available 93 points this season and are at the top with a street length lead. Because number two City lost 2-1 to Chelsea on Thursday, ‘The Reds’ became champions without playing themselves.

Guardiola is already looking to the future

On Thursday, Liverpool will play their first game against City since the first championship in thirty years. Guardiola was looking forward to next season, when he wants to take a shot at the title with his team.

“In sports you always have to think about the future. I have won eight prizes with this club, but there is never really time to look back,” said the Spanish coach.

“Manchester City is still a great club. We need to learn from this season and make sure we are better next year. I have an idea about what was wrong this year and how we can solve it next year.”

Manchester City-Liverpool starts on Thursday at 9:15 PM.
