The course of the case is rather strange and confusing: the Winterthur governor’s office accuses a couple of parents of wanting to undermine their daughter’s concession, which was rejected by the school administration. Parents should be fined 2,000 francs each. Since they opposed the penalty orders, an assessment by the court was necessary.

As the “NZZ” writes, in September 2022 the parents asked the primary school in their residential community to exempt their two daughters from tuition. The family wanted to travel to visit relatives in the Caribbean for more than the two week holiday.

The younger girl has no problem, but the school administration rejected the application for the older girl because an application for her had already been approved in 2017. It is a common practice that only one application of the such as agreeing during the entire school period.

Very special indeed, one would think. But the school administration didn’t like it at all and called the Winterthur governor’s office.
