Desktop Best Buy Guide – Tweakers

In keeping with tradition, the Best Buy Guide team also wishes everyone the best, and may 2022 be a better hardware year than 2021, especially in terms of availability. The first test by fire is coming quickly, because the first week of January is for the CES fair. Both AMD, Intel and Nvidia are going to announce products, so 2022 should also have a lot of good things ahead. However, in this BBG we focus on what is already for sale.

We have put together three systems this time. Firstly, partly because working from home has become a fixed value for many, we have put together an office PC or work from home system, with three upgrades as an extra. If you prefer to work on a (corporate) laptop and reserve your desktop for gaming, we have two gaming PCs in this BBG. The first is budget-friendly, given the traditionally expensive month of December. The second gaming PC is for lovers of higher frame rates and resolutions. This does come with a hefty price, since the video cards, in contrast to processors, still form an availability bottleneck.

As usual, the DBBG systems have been put together in consultation with the Tweakers community. In the topic on Gathering of Tweakers everyone can give their opinion about the perfect system. A few weeks before publication, the BBG team places proposals for systems in the Complete Systemen & Laptops-forum. Then all forum visitors can give their opinion and discuss changes. When writing and compiling the final BBG, we start from the feedback in the above topics, our own findings, the reviews of fellow hardware sites and the experiences of fellow tweakers on the forum and in the productreviews.

The prices of the various components are retrieved from the Pricewatch in real time and are therefore subject to change. The prices in the tables are determined at the time of publication. If a part appears more than once in a configuration, such as the two video cards for an SLI or CrossFire system, it will be factored into the total price. All prices include VAT.

Note: Not all hardware combinations have been tested. Where possible we check for the correct functioning of the various parts, but we cannot guarantee that all components are one hundred percent compatible.
