Update 06/11: After the leakage of the news, Microsoft added on the Roadmap page that it only concerns the support of one business and one personal account for the time being. Support for multiple business accounts would follow.

Update 05/11: Microsoft has added the feature to her Office 365 Roadmap, where you can find an overview of new functions that the various applications in the Office 365 package will get. In the description you can read that you will be able to add multiple accounts to the desktop app, change your profile picture and switch between those accounts via the settings. Those features have been around for the Teams mobile app since the summer.

The option to switch between accounts has been in high demand among Teams users for years. We deduce that from a page in the UserVoice-forum, where users can throw up ideas or wishes for new functions. This idea was already posted in January 2017 and it already has almost 30,000 likes. It took until July this year before a response was received from Microsoft. An employee then responded that Microsoft had added the feature to Teams mobile app, and that the desktop app would follow.

The roadmap still says ‘under development’ for that new feature. The feature should roll out in December this year. Microsoft Teams is one of the most popular video conferencing tools. During the first wave of the pandemic, the number of daily users rose to 75 million.
