Na de pickle riot and the subsequent eventful evening, which culminated in a quarrel between Hans and his ex-wife Libera, Hayriye’s doubts set in. Meanwhile, Desiree is still in her place in the B&B in the Tuscan Pistoia and she doesn’t seem to have any intention of leaving Italy yet. Not even after Hans indicates the day before that he can ‘never fall in love’ with someone like Desiree. “Perhaps you can already feel the mood a bit,” Hans begins.
No, Hans, Desiree certainly doesn’t feel the mood. As she digests the bad news, disbelief sets in. “We can talk great and we can’t stop talking. We talk about all kinds of things. We get along great, actually. I don’t quite get it…” She thinks that Hans never gave their relationship a chance. “It’s decided so quickly. Love takes time. Maturing. You’re getting older, it’s not going bam, bam, bam.”

With the approaching departure of Desiree, Hans aims his arrows at Hayriye, unaware that she will pack her bags that same day. The butterflies she wants to feel in her stomach for Hans are not there. Not to mention the fact that she doesn’t want to live with Hans and his ex in the long term.
Hans doesn’t handle the rejection well. “Too bad, I just thought you were a strong woman who doesn’t just give up”, he addresses her slightly reproachfully. “It has nothing to do with being strong,” Hayriye snaps back. To which Hans answers ‘no, yes, I don’t know’. Nevertheless, Hayriye is relieved that she has made the decision, leaving Hans alone in his B&B.
