Designer I Love New York logo passed away | Abroad

Glaser suffered a stroke on Friday, on his birthday. He also suffered from kidney failure.

The idea for the world-famous logo came about after Glaser sketched it on the back of an envelope with red chalk during a taxi ride. The design came into use in 1977. Instead of ‘love’ there is a heart in the logo.

“I am totally amazed at what happened to this little, really nothing more than an idea,” Glaser said in 2011.
