Designated mobile screening clinics ready to hit the road if needed

HEALTH. On July 3, mobile screening teams from the Center universitaire universitaire de santé et de services sociaux de la Mauricie-et-du-Center-du-Québec (CIUSSS MCQ) carried out a final day of screening in the field before the Designated mobile screening clinics are temporarily stored and ready to use when needed.

“As everywhere in Quebec, the vigilance and the measures currently in place have slowed down the transmission of COVID-19 in the community. However, it is very important to keep our good habits and continue to protect ourselves. The timing and extent of the second wave will depend on our current efforts, including physical distancing and wearing a mask in public places, “said Dr. Marie-Josée Godi, Director of Public Health, Directorate of Public Health and Accountability population.

“SWAT” teams will be put in place to be able to act quickly in the event of an outbreak. “We want to keep our agility. In the event of an outbreak during the summer, we can quickly deploy, in less than 24 hours, one of our designated mobile screening clinics and a team in the field, ”said Karine Lampron, Director of Ambulatory Services and Critical Care.

In seven weeks, more than 15,121 people were contacted by designated mobile screening clinics. The multidisciplinary team made people aware of the appearance of symptoms and reminded them of the importance of getting tested. It also provided psychological support to the population. In total, 2107 screening tests, 636 psychosocial interventions and 1020 lessons in infection prevention were carried out.

“We would like to thank all of our partners, our staff and the municipalities who took part in the project. They were able to be set up very quickly and the fact that we can keep the designated mobile screening clinics available in the event of an outbreak is a major advantage that will allow us to act quickly in the event of need, ”says Ms. Lampron.

Stay on the lookout for symptoms and get tested

It is important to stay alert for COVID-19 symptoms (cough, fever, difficulty breathing, loss of taste and smell, sudden tiredness). “Remember, we still have our designated assessment clinics and our designated screening clinics that can accommodate users with COVID-19 symptoms. People who have symptoms should call 1 877 644-4545, ”concludes Dr. Godi.
