Desecration of graves and a number of other crimes are sentenced to two years in prison In the spotlight

The Zemgale District Court in Dobele has sentenced a man sentenced to two years in prison for five different crimes, including desecration and theft, according to a publicly available anonymised sentence.

The judgment explains that the man committed his criminal activities in the period from 2015 to 2017. In the autumn of 2015, a man and a partner broke into a foreign garage, where they stole diesel fuel worth 615 euros.

In the summer of 2017, the convict, shortly after Midsummer, together with two participants, broke the notice boards of Dobele Parish’s “Brenču Cemetery”, overturned several crosses, as well as damaged several tombstones and other things in the cemetery.

On the same day, the company broke the glass of a foreign house, tore off the slate sheets on the roof of the sauna and damaged the stove of the residential house.

On the night of the same day, the trio also committed several thefts, namely a trimmer and a bicycle. The bike was later sold at a local pawnshop.

In general, a convicted man without two years behind bars will also have to compensate for the damage caused, the total amount of which is 1004 euros.
