DeSantis has begun attacking Trumphis one-time ally, far more aggressively than before. The former president has given his rival plenty of openings, making comments on abortion and Israel that DeSantis has used as cudgels. He has also criticized Trump for skipping the G.O.P. debates.
The new strategy makes clear that DeSantis, trailing in polling and fundraising, is urgently trying to draw a stronger contrast.
